Small Plane Crashes in Western Alaska, Killing Eight

The Cessna aircraft was carrying two pilots, two U.S. Army engineers and four contractors to Cape Newenham from Anchorage when it crashed near a U.S. military site, investigators said.

A Cessna 441 had taken off from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and was headed to Cape Newenham, in Western Alaska, when it crashed around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, officials said.
