A controller let a jet take off after missing warnings that Marine One was about to fly through the area, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
A passenger jet came within a mile of Marine One in early August, after an air traffic controller at Ronald Reagan National Airport appeared to have missed multiple warnings.
“I’ve been working air traffic for 25 years — I’ve never seen two aircraft pretty much emerge with the same call sign,” the controller who discovered the overlap said.
